I am writing this from scartch. When I just arrived from Solapur to college and when I entered in Principal's cabin for signature on Muster, Sir asked me, "Asst.Prof.Vikas Garad ,you are going to attend one workshop at SNDT, Pune. Just go and check college mail id".
When I checked the college mail id, I got the details of the workshop entitled as "ICT IN HIGHER EDUCATION" and I thought that this would be like 'INTEL TEACH TO FUTURE PROGRAME' and I already completed the INTEL MASTER TEACH certificate, so I am not going to attend the workshop. When I went to Principal's cabin to discuss with him about the workshop and my decision to avoid that because of college responsibilities he replied that Asst.Prof.Thorat also coming with you to attend the workshop and first leave the campus and attend the workshop.
With orders from Principal Dr.K.I.Sattigeri, we leave the college and went to SNDT University,Pune. When we were at the gate of Education Department, the participants of workshop were going to have a lunch. There we meet Dr.Jayshree Shinde. Though, we have already heard about her and her work in Educational Technology field, we didn't have a chance to meet her personally.
She is so simple, may
be I think whichever persons who are reach intellectually are live simple. I
asked her, madam I already completed the Intel Master Trainer Certification, so
I did not want to participate in this workshop, she quietly replied , “Sir , we
are not going to teach you the MS-OFFICE”. Come we will discuss while taking
lunch.
After lunch, I joined the sessions. First session was based on Google Calendar. I am using it since many months, this session gives the vision to use Google Calender as a teacher perspective.
Next session was about the animations , Mr. Dilip Tikle shows us various animation from his laptop. He introduced us with the simple animations , www.fluxtime.com , www.myphysicslab.com , www.virtlab.com , www.mathlab.mtu.edu , ocw.mit.edu ,
We also did some practice on fluxtime. Then we were introduced with Google Maps and Google Earth
This was a great experience that we can move earth on a computer mouse. We really enjoyed these sessions and also practice on it. We also have work on the kml and kmz extension files.
Next day respected vice-chancellor Dr.Vasudha Kamat interact with us via Skype. I am just shocked that a VC of university was giving time to 13 participants of the workshop. That gives more importance to the workshop through her presentation she focused on ICT and its integration in higher education and also the need and objectives of the workshop. This was a amazing experience to seat in a class of world class faculty in Education Technology and topmost authority in the university.
Dr.Shinde give one example of how blog is used for the instruction and she gave example of Manasi Patil who prepared a blog on Sampling Techniques. You can access it at manasi13.blogspot.com . Dr.Shinde also introduced us with Grouptable and show us how it can be used in educational situations.
Ms.Manasi Patil who is alumni of SNDT and now works as a Instructional Designer in SNDT, Mumbai explore eXeLearning to us. She with her pleasant style of teaching teach us how to use eXeLearning step by step. She also show how to use it in creating learning environment and for self learning.
Next Day we are introduced with Major.Ashwin Baindur. He is a member of WikiPune a Wikipedians community from Pune city. He comes with Wikipedia stickers and badges and information brochures. He shows us how Wikipedia works and how to create Wikipedia page and how to edit it. Dr.Radha Mishra - one of participant of the workshop shared her experience about her visit to Wikipedia's head-office. We practiced as per instructions from Major.Ashwin Baindur.
Next session we learn about how to create a blog , insert picture, how to change the theme and we are instructed to create a blog.I created this blog-site long time ago but not written up anything after participating in workshop. I am motivated to write up something.
Next part of instruction is based on how to use Facebook and its applications such as creating groups, closed groups and open groups and guided about the settings for privacy of account. Dr.Jayshree Shinde gives instructions about how to use it in educational context and many of us who did not have the Facebook account were instructed to open the account. All of us interestingly participate in the practice sessions.
In next session we were introduced with Ms.Sameena Falleiro, who is faculty of Computer Science at Smt.Parvatibai Chowgule College, Goa. Ms.Sameena introduced us with a Learning Management Software called as Moodle.She teaches us how to use Moodle and how to create activities, quizzes. Ms.Nolita Gonsalves who is alumni of SNDT, Mumbai and now working at Educational Technology department guide me about Moodle with Ms.Sameena. Ms.Nolita who was with us from the very first day of workshop and she was always very cooperative with all the participants of the workshop.
Now, at the last day of workshop we were practices the Moodle and after practice Dr.Jayshree Shinde gives orientation about WizIq and Yahoo messenger. When she was giving orienation HDr.Mrs.Vandana Chakrabarti
